Job Description: The Lead Carpenter maintains and repairs building woodwork and equipment –
bins, cribs, counters, benches, partitions, doors, floors, stairs, casings and trim; plans and lays out
work from blueprints, drawings, models or verbal instructions; uses a variety of carpenter’s hand
tools, portable power tools, and standard measuring instruments; makes standard shop
computations relating to work dimensions; and selects required materials; performs minor furniture
repair; assists in relocating staff by delivering and installing office and residential furniture; taping
and masking rooms to be painted; and painting walls during surge requirements. The Lead Carpenter
is responsible for supervising a staff of up to ten Foreign and Local Nationals, completing reports and
performing administrative duties, and is responsible for facility custodianship of work area and
management of tools, equipment, and spare parts for the carpentry shop.


Minimum Acceptable Qualification Levels:
Experience: Must have 3 years’ experience as a Journeyman Carpenter.
Education Required: Must have a Carpenter Vocational Diploma or completed an Apprentice
program with a Journeyman Certificate.
Language Required: Must be able to read, write and speak English, and interpret English plans and
building diagrams.
