Job Description: This position will be responsible for operating heavy equipment, such as cranes,
forklifts, etc. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level
of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.

Inspect, select, and configure cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, shackles, and sheaves
according to weight and size of load to be moved and coordinating with the crane operator
and rigging crew.

Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
o Experience as a truck driver with manual and automatic transmissions.
o One year experience in performing rigging operations for cranes, forklifts, and other
heavy equipment.

Assemble rigging to lift and move equipment or material on construction projects.

Selects cables, ropes, pulleys, winches, blocks, and sheaves, according to weight and size of
load to be moved. Tests rigging to ensure safety and reliability.

Attach load with grappling devices, such as loops, wires, ropes, and chains, to crane hook.

Communicate with the crane operator engaged in hoisting and moving loads to ensure
safety of workers and material handled, using hand signals, loudspeaker, or telephone.

Set up, brace, and rig hoisting equipment, using hand tools and power wrenches.

Dismantle and store rigging equipment after use.

Operate all vehicles in a safe and knowledgeable manner:
o 40-foot tractor/trailer combination in a confined area
o Company and DoS/DoD light vehicles

Perform the Pre-trip inspection (PTI) of the vehicle prior to use to ensure it is suitable for
safe operation.

Perform any operator level maintenance required for safe operation.

Wear prescribed personnel protective equipment (PPE).

Correctly apply load retention materials to safely transport freight.

Properly transit through established checkpoints.

Perform the Post-trip inspection to ensure the vehicle is fully mission capable for follow-on
missions.
